Treatment is short: recovery lasts a lifetime.

What to Expect When You Graduate to The Ridge Aftercare Program

The last day of treatment is the first day of your independence in recovery. It’s cause for celebration – and it’s also a day you need to plan for.

We understand that graduating from our substance use disorder treatment program is just the beginning. Embarking on a long-term sober lifestyle is a daunting challenge that requires foresight and preparation. Addiction counselors at The Ridge work with you to develop a post-recovery plan and assist you in enrolling in various aftercare programs, sober-living facilities, mental health treatment programs, or other options you and your counselor deem necessary for long-term sobriety.

Maintaining Sobriety

A typical aftercare plan looks like:

  • 52 weeks of professional support offered by our Alumni program
  • Intensive outpatient or outpatient programming as needed
  • Monthly alumni meetings
  • Quarterly alumni social events
  • AA/NA 12-Step programs and other support groups
  • Relapse prevention techniques
  • Continued in-home counseling
  • Telehealth or individual in-person counseling sessions

The Ridge Alumni Program

The Ridge Aftercare Program

The Ridge Alumni Community is an amazing way to stay connected with your counselors, fellow clients, and recovery peers from The Ridge. Once a month, on Saturday, our Alumni group meets with current patients and families. Alumni also gather virtually for a weekly support group. You will also enjoy a newsletter, a dedicated support specialist, and access to special events such as luncheons, speakers, and educational opportunities.

The Ridge Aftercare Program

The Ridge offers 52 weeks of professional aftercare support to people who complete their entire residential treatment program. These group meetings occur once a week. Other services such as in-person or telehealth individual sessions, lab work, or other services are also available to residential program graduates. Aftercare takes place at The Ridge’s main office, where you complete your initial intake paperwork. We encourage clients to attend all 52 weeks of aftercare: it makes a difference, keeps you on track, and ensures you maximize the value of the time you spent in treatment.

Relapse Prevention Techniques

Medical and clinical staff at The Ridge understand that completing an alcohol or substance use disorder treatment program is only the beginning. After treatment, when you’re no longer surrounded by recovery peers and expert therapists and counselors, it can be difficult to control cravings or manage the triggers that lead to relapse. The medical and clinical staff at The Ridge will help you develop tools and techniques to deal with these cravings and triggers.
