Alcoholism Treatment

Ohio's Best Residential Alcoholism Treatment Program

Alcoholism is a dangerous, deadly disease, and if you or a loved one struggles with it, getting treatment for alcoholism should be your top priority. Recovering from this disease isn’t easy, but it’s something an alcoholic has to do in order to reclaim their health, happiness, and freedom. The Ridge offers an intensive, residential treatment program that will get an alcoholic off the bottle and onto the road to recovery. Our physician-managed program was designed by certified addictionologists, and boasts an impressive recovery rate.

Detoxification Process

Severe alcoholism requires a detoxification process, and one that all but requires being managed by physicians. Alcohol’s withdrawal symptoms are among the most significant of any drug. Even heroin’s withdrawal process seems tame in comparison. The worst symptom is delirium tremens, a state of hallucinations, fever, and involuntary convulsions that frequently proves fatal if it’s allowed to run its course without treatment. The Ridge can oversee detox, or refer patients to a hospital if we determine that the withdrawal will be too severe for our facilities. When alcohol withdrawal is managed by physicians, the risk of death drops precipitously. By giving the withdrawing alcoholic benzodiazepine tranquilizers, we reduce the severity of delirium tremens, making the process much safer.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Once a patient has detoxified, our multifaceted alcoholism treatment program gets to work teaching the patient what causes their addiction, what it does to them, and how to live sober. Our goal is to get our patients sober for life, and our treatment is designed to be the best. The Ridge’s program involves therapy both in group and one-on-one sessions. Cognitive-behavioral therapy informs the addict about how their thinking and habits enable their addiction, and will lead them to relapse unless they can change. Our 12-Step program, modeled after A.A.’s, provides a framework and structure for the recovery process. We also educate our patients about the nature of their disease, so they don’t feel needlessly self-critical or depressed for behaving the way their drug-altered brains told them to

Long Term Sobriety

The Ridge doesn’t think it’s enough to detox an alcoholic, keep them sober for a month, and then let them out into the world alone. We offer support for our patients after they leave our facility to give them their best chance for long-term health and sobriety. We strongly recommend keeping active with aftercare. Going to meetings with other recovering addicts can let a person know that there are people who are going through the same struggles and that overcoming those struggles as possible.
