A Comprehensive Medication Review Supports Safe and Effective Treatment

Medication management begins with a detailed review of every medication you take so we can support your recovery safely. During your first appointment, we review your prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, supplements, and medical history to understand how they may affect your addiction and mental health treatment.

Your medication review helps us identify factors that may affect your treatment, including:

  • Potential interactions between medications.
  • Side effects that may interfere with your recovery.
  • Whether your current medications continue to meet your clinical needs.
  • Opportunities to simplify your medication routine when clinically appropriate.

This careful review creates a safer starting point for outpatient treatment. Rather than changing medications automatically, we carefully evaluate your current regimen, discuss any concerns, and determine whether medication changes are clinically appropriate before making recommendations.

Common Questions About Medication Management Near Orange Township, OH

  • What should I bring to my first medication management appointment?

Bring a list of all prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements you currently take, or bring the medication bottles if that’s easier. You should also bring a photo ID, insurance card, your medical history, allergy information, contact information for your healthcare providers, and any questions about your symptoms or medications.

  • What happens if I miss doses or stop taking my medications while I’m in treatment?

Let your treatment team know as soon as possible if you miss doses or stop taking a medication. Your provider will evaluate the safest next steps, which may include adjusting your treatment plan while monitoring for withdrawal symptoms, side effects, or changes in your condition.

  • Can you work with my MAT provider while I’m in outpatient treatment?

Yes. With your permission, we can coordinate with your MAT provider to share relevant treatment information and help keep your medication plan and outpatient care aligned throughout treatment.

  • What happens if my outside doctor wants to change a medication while I’m in your program?

We coordinate with your outside provider, with your permission, before medication changes are made whenever communication supports your care. This allows your treatment team to review the recommendation, monitor for potential interactions, and update your treatment plan when clinically appropriate.

  • Can you help me transition medication management back to my regular doctor when I finish PHP or IOP?

Yes. Before you complete PHP or IOP, we can communicate with your regular healthcare provider, share relevant medication information with your permission, and help support a smooth transition back to ongoing medication management.
