Important Note for Potential Patients

The Ridge is a substance use disorder treatment facility that provides supervision around the clock for people in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction. Our patients spend weeks and sometimes months together with us and their peers as they work towards sobriety.

In order to provide a positive and safe atmosphere for recovery, patients must adhere to the rules and guidelines detailed in our patient handbook. Many of the guidelines are established and governed by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services (OhioMHAS).

Admissions Process

After a personal consultation and review/verification of your insurance benefits, we begin the three-step admissions process.

  1. You receive a pre-admission assessment to determine the appropriate level of medical and clinical care needed.
  2. Depending on the outcome of your assessment, you may be referred to our detox program, or be admitted into one of our alcohol/substance use disorder programs.
  3. Upon admission approval, you’ll be invited to visit administrative office in Milford, Ohio, to meet with our intake coordinator and finalize your administrative paperwork. Then you travel to your program location.

Active Engagement in Treatment

If you’re accepted for admission at The Ridge, you must participate and engage all aspects of our alcohol/substance use disorder program. We require full your full commitment to a recovery. This includes maintaining a positive and respectful attitude toward yourself, your recovery peers, and all Ridge staff members. You must be supportive of your peers during group sessions. You must remain on the grounds of the facility or under supervision of our staff at all times during your stay at The Ridge.

Requirements for Treatment

During your stay, you participate in programming and counseling as determined by your initial assessment. However, contrary to some stereotypes about drug rehab treatment centers, you are not held at The Ridge against your will.

All treatment at The Ridge is voluntary.

Although you or your recovery peers may be hesitant at the start of treatment, our goal is to help you discover the motivation and wisdom to participate fully and actively during your entire stay at The Ridge.

You will have access to a phone to contact family members, but personal cell phones, iPads, laptops, and other electronic devices/Wi-Fi enabled devices are not permitted during residential treatment. We make exceptions on a case-by-case basis for participants in our Professionals Program.

Recovery requires your attention, focus, and dedication. For this reason, we limit the number of personal items that can distract you from your main goal, which is recovery. We allow personal music players, books, and other reading material for designated down-time. We encourage family participation, and our family counseling program that helps rebuild relationships and set the foundation for positive interactions during and after recovery.

How to Be Successful in Treatment

To achieve success in our programs, we ask you to follow our guidelines. We also ask you to be open to advice and input from our clinicians and staff. When you embrace and actively engage in our programming, you’re much more likely to recover and maintain long-term sobriety.

Keys to Success in Recovery

Follow the rules.

This does not mean you sacrifice your individuality or become a recovery robot. Our rules and regulations are in place to keep you safe, maintain order, and create an atmosphere conducive to healing for everyone. We want you to be yourself – within our set of reasonable and responsible guidelines.

Respect staff and peers.

There are times when you won’t understand why we do things a certain way. There may be times when you question the decisions of our staff. Keep in mind that the professional staff members at The Ridge have years of experience in addiction treatment, and have everyone’s best interest at heart.

Likewise, we remind you that your recovery peers may experience similar struggles. Remember that each person is different and experiences treatment in their own way. Despite the individual differences inherent in any group situation, we require that you treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times.

Keep an open mind.

You might be surprised at tasks you’re asked to do or topics you might be asked to talk about. That’s okay – everyone experiences that. However, you need to participate fully in therapy sessions and support groups and be willing to open up with others so you can enjoy all the benefits of residential treatment.

Don’t rush.

Most people want to get through recovery as quickly as possible so they can get back to life. We understand that. The best way to success, however, is to take your time and stay in rehab as long as clinically recommended. This helps you establish a strong foundation for ongoing sobriety. Treatment progress can feel slow and my difficult to quantify, but by sticking with the program, actively participating in sessions, and putting what you learn into practice, you’ll find yourself enjoying sobriety – and when you enjoy sobriety, you increase your chances of making it last.
