When family members and loved ones participate in the treatment process, outcomes improve.

Family Therapy, The Foundational Relationships

During residential treatment at The Ridge, we offer eight (8) family programming sessions.

In the context of your recovery, you decide what family means. It might mean your biological family, your spouse, or your close friends. You get to decide who participates and to what extent they participate. If they’re important to you, they’re important to us. If they’re part of your daily life, they’re even more important. Evidence shows that when the people around you – family, friends, or peers – understand what you’re going through, they’re better able to support you on your recovery journey. The more support you have, the better your chances at achieving sustainable lifelong recovery.

Family Involvement and Education at The Ridge

Family programming sessions are the core of family involvement at The Ridge. Our patients say these sessions are one of the most effective components of their treatment. Family sessions often lead to breakthrough moments for everyone involved. During these sessions, families participate in exercises and educational activities facilitated by our expert staff that include:

  • Communication skills
  • The science of addiction
  • The purpose and process of treatment and recovery
  • Codependency
  • How to maximize the value of 12-step meetings
  • How to set healthy boundaries
  • How to support a loved one in recovery

The goal of our family therapy sessions is to get the people in your support system on the same page as you. When you enter treatment, you make the decision to move past your problems with alcohol and drugs and live in the solution. We ask your family live in the solution, too – and help you live a life free from addiction.
