Drug & Alcohol Aftercare Program in Cincinnati, Ohio
52 Weeks of Support for Clients and Families. Joint Commission–accredited private residential treatment on a private 51-acre estate, twenty minutes east of Cincinnati. Physician-led, 24/7 nursing, full continuum of care.
What aftercare at The Ridge actually includes
Aftercare at The Ridge is 52 weeks of structured support that begins the week you discharge from residential treatment. Your counselor builds the plan that fits your situation — weekly groups at our Milford office, individual sessions or telehealth, and additional components like AA participation, in-home counseling, or sober-living referrals when those are the right call. Family programming continues in parallel. We call this Recovery for Life because the work doesn’t stop at discharge — and neither do we.
How Aftercare Fits Into Our Continuum of Care
Aftercare isn’t a separate program — it’s the final phase of a continuum that starts with detox and runs through residential, PHP, and IOP. Most clients move through every level on the same campus, with the same clinical team.
Aftercare for Clients and Aftercare for Families
Most aftercare programs talk only at the client. The Ridge runs two parallel tracks — clinical support for the person in recovery, and ongoing programming for the family. Both start at discharge and continue for the full year.

What Else Your Aftercare Plan Can Include
Depending on your situation, your counselor configures the right combination of clinical support, peer connection, and external referrals.
AA, NA & 12-step support
Relapse prevention work
Embedded throughout aftercare groups and standalone via our relapse prevention program — skills, triggers, crisis response.
In-home counseling
When clinically appropriate, in-home counseling sessions support your transition back to daily life and reduce barriers to engagement.
Quarterly alumni events
Quarterly social events connect alumni for milestone celebration, peer support, and community throughout the year.
Step-up to PHP or IOP
Your counselor can recommend PHP or IOP if life circumstances change — aftercare flexes with what you need.
Sober-living referrals
When sober-living is the right call, your counselor coordinates referrals to trusted local options.
Not sure if this is the right time?
Confidential. No obligation. Most PPO insurance plans accepted.
Recovery for Life: What’s Included After Discharge
52 weeks of structured aftercare, included with residential
Aftercare is included for every client who completes our residential program. If you stop attending, our aftercare and alumni teams will reach out. Re-engagement is always welcomed, without judgment.

What Your Year of Aftercare Actually Looks Like
The weekly group cadence stays consistent. What changes is everything around it — your life rebuilding, the family rebuilding alongside, the risk window narrowing.
Settling into aftercare
Your first weekly aftercare group meets within days of discharge. Individual sessions and lab work happen as needed. For families, virtual support meetings begin the same week — the support structure that started during residential continues without a gap.
The highest-risk window
Most relapses happen in the first 90 days post-discharge, which is exactly when aftercare is most active. Weekly groups continue. Sponsor relationships from AA or NA deepen. Our relapse prevention tools are most aggressively applied here. Family programming runs in parallel — virtual meetings, monthly couples meetings, and family therapy through our clinical staff when needed.
Building a sustainable rhythm
Long-term recovery, sustained
You’re past the highest-risk window. Weekly aftercare continues to the 52-week mark. The Alumni Community — separate from clinical aftercare but always overlapping — deepens. Many clients keep coming back long after 52 weeks; the door doesn’t close at the end of the year.

Alcohol Aftercare in Cincinnati FAQ
-
Is aftercare included in the cost of residential treatment?
Yes. The 52-week aftercare program is included at no additional cost for clients who complete our residential treatment program. There is no separate billing, no enrollment fee, and no insurance verification process for aftercare — it’s part of what you already paid for during residential. Family programming continues post-discharge at no cost to families either, including virtual support meetings and the monthly couples meeting.
-
Who is eligible for The Ridge aftercare program?
Clients who complete the entire residential treatment program are eligible for all 52 weeks of aftercare. If you discharge early or against medical advice, eligibility depends on circumstances and clinical judgment — your discharge planner walks you through what’s available. For people who attended PHP, IOP, or outpatient at The Ridge without residential, ongoing recovery support is structured differently; ask admissions for specifics.
-
Does my spouse have to participate in family aftercare?
Participation is voluntary, but strongly encouraged. Families who stay engaged in their own programming alongside their partner’s recovery consistently see better outcomes — for both partners. The family programming is structured so spouses can attend virtual meetings without their partner present; many do. If your partner is resistant to the family piece, that doesn’t disqualify you from the support.
-
What happens if I miss a week or stop attending?
We don’t take a passive approach. When someone disengages, our aftercare team and alumni team reach out — a direct check-in to understand what’s getting in the way and offer additional support. The goal isn’t to pressure you back; it’s to stay in relationship and identify risks early. If you’ve stopped, re-engagement is always welcomed without judgment.
-
Is aftercare in-person or virtual?
Weekly aftercare group meetings happen in person at our Milford office, just outside Cincinnati. Individual sessions are available in person or via telehealth, depending on what works for your schedule. Family support meetings are virtual, which makes them accessible to out-of-area family members. The weekly Caduceus meeting for healthcare professionals is online. Specialty options get discussed individually during your discharge planning.
-
What’s the difference between aftercare and the Alumni Community?
Aftercare is clinical structure — 52 weeks of weekly groups, individual sessions, family programming, lab work, and clinical response if relapse happens. It runs on a defined schedule with clinical staff. The Alumni Community is the social and peer-driven side — monthly Saturday meetings with current patients, alumni, and families together; a weekly virtual support group accessible from anywhere; alumni newsletter; a dedicated alumni support specialist; and year-round social events. Most clients participate in both, and the two run in parallel through the post-residential year.
