Ridge Outpatient Columbus

An intensive outpatient program is structured addiction treatment you attend several days a week while living at home. At The Ridge Columbus, IOP runs three to five sessions weekly at roughly three hours each, scheduled so clients can keep working. Sessions combine group therapy focused on recovery skills and relapse prevention, individual counseling, and mental health support for co-occurring conditions. It sits between weekly counseling and partial hospitalization in intensity.

You start with a clinical assessment that confirms outpatient care is appropriate and sets your treatment plan. From there you attend scheduled sessions at the Westerville center, mostly group work with individual counseling alongside it. Your plan gets reviewed regularly and adjusted as you progress. Most clients step down from PHP into IOP, then into outpatient counseling and aftercare. You live at home throughout.

For the right person, yes — and the assessment is how you find out whether you are that person. IOP works well for adults who are medically stable, have somewhere safe to live, and need real clinical structure without leaving work or family. It works poorly for someone who needs supervised withdrawal first. That is a clinical judgment, not a preference, and admissions will be direct about it.

The Ridge is primarily out-of-network with major PPO carriers, and regularly works with Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Medical Mutual, GEHA, Custom Design Benefits, Ohio Healthy, Beacon, Humana, Optima Health and UMR. We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, admissions works to secure the maximum available coverage and will tell you your actual out-of-pocket cost before you commit.

No. The Columbus center is outpatient only — PHP, IOP, outpatient counseling and aftercare. Medical detox and residential treatment happen at the Cincinnati campus, about 100 miles south. If your assessment shows you need supervised withdrawal, admissions will arrange that first and you can step down into the Columbus programs afterward.
