Medication Management Is Integrated Into Your Treatment Program

Medication management involves much more than prescribing or refilling medications. It is integrated into your addiction treatment, allowing medication decisions to be guided by your recovery progress, therapy participation, and changing symptoms instead of being made in isolation.

We work closely with you throughout treatment to monitor how you’re responding to medications, discuss any concerns you have, and determine whether adjustments are clinically appropriate. Our therapists, psychiatric providers, and other clinicians communicate regularly, so medication decisions reflect your progress across every part of your care.

Medication management is an ongoing part of treatment rather than a series of separate prescription appointments. By combining medication oversight with therapy and regular clinical follow-up, we make informed decisions that support your progress throughout treatment.

Common Questions About Medication Management Near Powell, OH

  • Can I receive medication management as part of dual diagnosis treatment?

Yes. Medication management is available as part of dual diagnosis treatment when your clinical assessment shows that medication may support both your mental health and substance use treatment. Your psychiatric provider, therapists, and other clinicians work together to monitor your progress and adjust your care when clinically appropriate.

  • What should I bring to my first medication management appointment?

Bring a list of all prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements you currently take, or bring the medication bottles if that’s easier. You should also bring a photo ID, insurance card, information about your medical conditions and allergies, contact information for your healthcare providers, and any questions about your symptoms or medications.

  • What happens if I miss doses or stop taking my medications while I’m in treatment?

Let your treatment team know as soon as possible if you miss doses or stop taking a medication. Your provider will evaluate the safest next steps, which may include adjusting your treatment plan while monitoring for withdrawal symptoms, side effects, or changes in your condition.

  • What happens if my doctor wants to change a prescription medication while I’m in your program?

We review any medication changes with the clinicians involved in your care before incorporating them into your treatment whenever appropriate. We consider how the change may affect your recovery, other medications, and treatment schedule, then explain any recommendations before updating your care plan.

  • Can you help me transition medication management back to my regular doctor when I finish PHP or IOP?

Yes. Before you complete PHP or IOP, we can communicate with your regular healthcare provider, share relevant medication information with your permission, and help support a smooth transition back to ongoing medication management.
